We had such a great morning.. my 2.5 year old daughter just loved it.. it was a lovely 90 min train ride, the staff were all friendly and offered commentary along the way..I would highly recommend this for any young family for something cheap and different to do. Ill be definatly coming again

A fantastic operation being run by friendly and dedicated volunteers. The Swanbank to Racecourse return run was just the right length for families with children. The locomotive and rollingstock are in beautiful working order. I look forward to visiting again to continue supporting this fantastic organisation.

I took my very elderly mother on a Christmas train ride on an old Victorian era diesel train at Swanbank. It was an absolutely delightful experience. We were greeted at the station by a group of carollers who entertained us with wonderful Christmas songs while we waited for the train. Mr and Mrs Claus were there for photos too and the whole atmosphere was merry and bright. The old rattler whistled and chugged its way through some surprisingly picturesque scenery and the wonderful staff member on board was happy to answer our many questions. We will definitely be back when the steam train is repaired and ready for passengers again.

Too many screaming kids. They need a carriage for sensible quiet adults.Thanks for your reply to my comments.It is nonetheless great to see a working steam engine with carriages. The carriage staff were period dressed and friendly.A commentary would have been nice. As we are not from the local area we have no idea of the local history or where we were going or what we were seeing.Booking on the website with PayPal worked well.

Very friendly, informative and fun excursion. Definitely worth doing! The volunteers, from the wonderful engineer driving the train, to the wry conductor with a wicked wit, to the lovely couple running the station and ticketing, obviously love what they are doing and create a fun, family friendly, historical experience. Our grandson absolutely loved it and so did we. Thanks!
