Wonderful food, lobster, abalone, bread and French fries are good. Oysters and seafood chowder is average but many seafood inside the chowder. Not much restaurant choice in Bicheno and I think this is the best one there. The scenic is also wonderful facing the Governor Islands which has many birds singing there.

Whalers Lookout Scenic reserve
What a great view of Bicheno and Governor Island Marine Reserve. To the right of the Governor Island Marine Reserve we could see Fur Seals and Penguins. We were impressed with the scenic views even though it rained. We could also walk around the other side of the lookout and see the coastline were the blowhole is located.

Whalers Lookout Scenic reserve
The only way to get to this lookout is walking up the hill and it’s very much worth it. The views are stunning, we came early in the morning and loved watching the sun rise. Definitely worth the walk up and not a really hard or too long of a walk. The tack goes around the hill so you get views from both sides. Stunning views over Bicheno

Whalers Lookout Scenic reserve
Highly recommend taking this trail when visiting Bicheno. Only 15 mins from the parking area, we can see both sides of the city and beach.

Worth heading to the top, just a short walk, less than 1km return. Steep-ish, but you don't have to be super fit. There are steps.
