About the Business

Waterhouse Conservation Area | Parks & Wildlife Service Tasmania | Waterhouse Conservation Area is a well-kept secret near Bridport in Tasmania’s far north-east. This tranquil area encompasses a complex mosaic of diverse vegetation, including one of the largest areas of heathland on the North-East Coast. Vast relict dune systems, formed during the Ice Age, tower over the horizon in the north of the reserve.

Had loads of fun camping & fishing. Very family-friendly spot.Weather was awesome. Our camping spot was so peaceful, felt you were miles of nowhere but you are actually only 30km from either Scottsdale or Bridport.

Although we didnt camp there, we explored a little bit. A lot of spots, aside from the Village Green were a little tight for caravans. Road in to Waterhouse Point campsites was completely fine. Just rough gravel road, a bit rutted in spots but completely fine for 2WD. Some of the road at South Croppies is 4WD and a little sandy for 2WD. At the end of the Waterhouse Lake campsite it was a bit sandy also. I think id like to camp near Waterhouse beach access one time or there was ine spot overlooking Croppies Beach (South) which had magic views as pictured.

Great camping spot. Make sure you bring your own dunny paper as the toilets aren’t stocked.

Great! It's been a little while since we'd been out here. Loving the new toilets, and the way they've fenced off the campsites to protect the flora. Love the fact that it's still free and dog friendly. Keep up the good work.Update.To all those that complain about the mobile reception my question is which company are you with? We are with Telstra, the only way to go outside suburbia in Tasmania, and get reception. Admittedly you have to walk/drive to the high points to get it. But that's no biggy. As for the state of the road. It's great compared to what it used to be, and we used to go in a Kia Rio with trailer no problems on what it used to be.Updated 01/03/2022Just spent nearly three weeks out here. Missed out on the spots we would have preferred due to it still being very busy. But that was no problem. It was fire restriction season, and there is plenty of signage to let you know, but a few people don't think that applies to them. Yes, I know that's one of the pleasures of camping, but hey, the restrictions are there for a reason, and my autism doesn't deal well with people not obeying the rules. Apart from that, a pleasant, relaxing time was had. The most strenuous thing I did, besides setting up camp, was to walk up the hill for internet and phone reception, as we had a few things going on. We weren't in a four wheel drive, but the road was fine for our old Falcon wagon and trailer. The toilets are still way better than the old long drops. Just remember to put the lid down, and latch the door when you leave. Oh, there are toilet brushes provided too, for when you make a mess, and some do. Thoughtful touch. We're looking forward to getting out here again, especially with our new dog. Happy camping.

Excellent free camping. Most sites clean and accessable.. Unfortunately free camping brings out the worst in people. They have little or no respect for the environment. Road in needs work but okay.

Somewhat hard to find, good park with free camping, pit toilets, fire pits. Easy to hard 4x4 tracks, check conditions of the roads and road closures (including the main track) before you go!
