Mount Field National Park
We had the luck of being there when it was snowing. Absolutely beautiful. The road is reasonably accessible although an SUV is recommended but we did see sedans up the top. The road is not sealed but is very smooth. Highly recommend during snow conditions. Very very stunning when there is snow. May need to pay the standard National park fees.

A beautiful National Park to enjoy spectacular Tasmanian scenery. After parking at the visitors centre & buying a national parks pass you can explore the many different walks from a short 15 minute stroll to Russell Falls or take the longer track to the tall trees walk and a brisk 30 minute walk to Lady Barron Falls. The weather can change very quickly so dress warmly, take a jacket and wear boots or sneakers to keep your feet dry as the tracks can be muddy and slippery after the rain. The visitors centre has a small cafe & the coffee and toasted sandwiches are yummy. There's also some awesome Tasmanian books to purchase there as well. There are picnic areas and huts if you want to bring your own food and there are camping grounds a few minutes walk from the visitors centre. A great place for the kids to run around and explore the surrounding area.

Mount Field National Park
Absolutely spectacular. Nature in all it's pristine glory. Some amazing displays of the tallest trees & tree ferns. The three falls walk is well worth the effort. Not too hard to do & you will see a bit of everything & some beautiful waterfalls

Gotta be close to the best National Park reserve in Tassie. Even the town is called National Park. Great short or bit longer walks to Russell, Horseshoe & Lady Barron falls + Tall trees track. Don't forget this is only a warm up to some beautiful alpine walks suited to the more experience hikers up the Lake Dobson Rd.Interesting fact- The big man fern in the middle of the platform where you measure the height of the tall tree didn't grow there. It took about 10 or 12 people to carry it there from about 100 meters top side of Lady Barron track.I was one of them people.

Absolutely wonderful walk among tallest Eucalyptus and huge ferns! The entrance to the park costs 42 a$. We also drove to the alpine area and it is 30 min drive. Alpine area is nice but you can skip it if you have been to the top of mount Wellington.

As all the past reviews say, it is a breathtaking park. I walked the Tarn Shelf circuit, which took me 6ish hours; it snakes through windswept highlands and snow gumtree woods to lowland forests filled with birdlife.

last time I visited Mount Field National Park and booked a travel trip package through Tripadvisor, which had excellent star reviews. Driving from Hobart, we made a lunch stop at Subways before reaching the park. Our visit began with a leisurely walk through the enchanting forest, filled with towering tree ferns and giant eucalypts. The short walk to Russell Falls was a delightful experience, surrounded by nature's grandeur. The weather was pleasant, adding to the overall enjoyment of the trip. What impressed me was how beginner-friendly the park was. Even as a novice explorer, I found the walks and trails to be accessible and manageable. It was reassuring to know that Mount Field National Park caters to visitors of all experience levels.
