Pughs Lagoon Reserve

A beautiful place to relax and enjoy the reserve. There are so many beautiful birds in and around the water to enjoy. Fishing is allowed but stick to the rules posted up. Plenty of parking and room for a lot of cars.

quiet, BBQs nearby, loads of ducks, goose, pukekeoh, finches, fantails, and 2 swans absolutely a good quiet day, highly recommended for couples and young families with kids

Beautiful park with the geese approachable and not as aggressive as ones found in other areas

Quiet little lagoon & Park. Lovely spot for picnic or stretch the legs. Small walk along the water. Parking & toilets.No feeding the wildlife.

Great place for family picnics.

I would normally have five stars because I absolutely love this place. The wildlife is fairly friendly and if the birds know you they will often take food right out of your hands. Sadly, the weekends and sometimes during the week, just lately, have had several difficult people who insist on letting their children chase the poor terrified ducks and geese to the point where they all head for the water. They throw sticks and rocks at them as well while the parents just laugh. The children run screaming around the carpark and reserve with the parents watching which scares the crud out of some adults as well as the birds. Other than that and huge crowds of late, it's actually a beautifully clean and pleasant place to sit and eat or just contemplate. I'd still highly recommend it. The wildlife alone is worth it. We actually had one of the pelicans return today so bonus! Don't take my word for it, go see it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
