The Royal Sydney Golf Club

Review here is irrelevant: members and guests only. One of Sydney's most famous golf courses and oldest clubs, membership is via invitation, references, etc with a multi-year waiting list after that process. Sometime home of the Australian Open.

Very relaxing view of the course. Staff were very professional. Menu looked enticing and the presentation was first rate but seemed lacking in flavour.

This is a members only old world golf club housed in a grand old building including a massive modern extension. I was invited by a friend for lunch. It was as if I'd stepped back in time...to the 1950s. It is an extraordinary place with one of the best private collections of contemporary Australian art I have ever seen. Very polished dining experience. The place is spotless and gleaming. Its not a place I'm busting to be a member of nor do I think Im the kind of person they are looking for. I dont play golf. I'm not rich and I'm not old school on anything. Heck, I didnt even know these kinds of places exsisted anymore. I pulled out my phone to take photos of a gigantic floral arrangement in the entry and a security guard quickly stopped me.An historic and fascinating anachronism of a place. I just wish everybody could have a chance to see it.I did call to see if they were open to the public. No. They are a private members only club. As a non member you can only get inside the place as the guest of another member.They dont have open days either. Wouldn't it be lovely if they threw their doors open to the general masses once in a while so their extraordinary art collection could be seen by all? I know a lot of private collections and places of historic interest do that .Perhaps a coffee table book?

This is a great golf club and a brilliant golf course. The club house is spectacular. Looks like it belongs in Scotland at St Andrews. A very private club. Play if you are ever invited but bring your A game and a sand wedge!

First time playing there (short course). Was great. Facilities are amazing, and food/drink at reasonable prices. Recommend

I have no idea about the Royal Sydney Golf Club since I've never been there. Google has messed up and besides I don't believe I meet the membership criteria.

Wow! As a non member and first time visitor this place is VERY impressive. Stunning golf course plus pool and tennis courts, multiple meeting rooms and nooks for a quiet drink and chat. Highly recommended

First time I've played here. The course was in top condition even after the recent Sydney rains. Greens were fast and the fairways were like carpet. Lots of bunkers but the sand is so good that they're a joy to hit out of. The course design is also very challenging with bunkers in play regularly and pins tucked in tough positions. You don't tend to lose many balls around here though.
