Wolfe Creek Crater
Known as Wolfe Creek Crater, this imposing feature is located 168km from Halls Creek in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. It can be reached after a two to three-hour drive down the Tanami Road, only accessible to conventional vehicles during the dry season. There's camp nearby, and some great walks to be had around the crater.

Wolfe Creek Crater
The crater in the middle of the desert is an amazing site and well worth seeing. The facilities are basic, just a long drop toilet and obviously not a lot of shade. It is a short walk up the rim of the crater and hiking in and around is good but you need to be well prepared. The road in is terrible and not a great idea to tow anything in. It is not really 4WD, just endless corrugations the size of the grand canyon. The night sky is spectacular.

Wolfe Creek Crater
Awesome sight, well worth the detour to get there.Road in way rough and hasn’t been graded in a while. I did see a old commodore at the campsite, so it’s possible without a 4x4 if you don’t love your car!Bring water and all food, but there are allocated campsites with toilets.Hike up the crater was off low difficulty, and the path around the rim was a nice morning walk.

Wolfe Creek Crater
Road was good , facilities are limited . Laid out swag under the stars. Easy walk to crater for sunset and sunrise, 300,000 years ago asteroid shattered the landscape, amazing to see, such silence out there, just the birds and breeze. Look out for cattle and red kangaroos on the way.

A place you should go and visit, the road in a bit rough. The walk around the rim an easy 3.4k walk.

It was worth the long drive to visit this beauty. It’s the second biggest meteorite crater in the world!!! Once there, we didn’t stay long as all you can do is look but we’ll all remember the massive hole in the desert forever!

Wolfe Creek Crater
It is an impressive site. Quite beautiful and very serene. Photos don't do it justice. If planning to camp overnight, bring every thing you will need; water, food, vehicle fuel and cooking fuel. 2-3 hours from Halls Creek (Google maps says 5.5 hrs but we did it in 2h 35m) down the Tanami and an eastward private road.
