Passive aggressive man on the tills where every answer you gave his was the opposite. We have just walked from the caravan site in 27 degrees. He would say that only a short walk.We are very hot. He would answer it’s freezing.Anyway.Interesting homestead with lots of different visuals to see. Amix of different rooms.Well preserved and ok.

Wonderful stop on the way to Lake Argyle and well worth the visit to learn about the history of the Durack family. The care takers were very hospitable and knowledgeable.Great 20 min walk there from the resort plus you can head up to the bluff for wonderful views of the homestead and lake.

A significant bit of East Kimberley history inside these stone walls. The museum hosts were able to describe the Durack story and dynasty, with a keen sense for the significance of it all. Particularly the role of the first nations peoples, without whom, they would have surely perished. Big thanks to the hosts there who have presented the museum beautifully.

What an amazing story! To travel from Queensland to WA with all those cattle & to have had all their food & Supplies taken by the aborigines then to struggle on. Building fences & shelters etc. Allow at least 2 hrs there is SO much information there! Highly recommend

Thank you for a wonderful experience Rod and Lyndal.Your kindness, enthusiasm and knowledge are a credit to the Homestead. The history and stories are most interesting and I feel like I would like to delve deeper into them in my own time now.The hardship, harshness, beauty, art and books that have come about from this part of history are well captured with many interesting items donated or gifted to the museum display. The exact replica using the very stones of the original is poignant and I can only imagine the emotions that the descendant Mary Durack felt seeing her childhood home recreated. It is well worth a look.

This was a real surprise during our visit to Lake Argyle. The homestead is beautifully presented, exceptionally well maintained, and the host, Rod, provided a highly informative commentary about the homestead and the Durack family. The hosts were thoughtful, friendly, and surprisingly knowledgeable about the rich history of the fascinating Durack family. Snacks and coffee were available, as well as relevant books and DVDs. We would highly recommend a visit here.

Bizarrely, they have a no drone signs, Its public air space people !! You cant legally stop people flying, you can only stop them from flying from your property. I'm bringing my drone next time :) and flying from a public point.Edit: Helicopter or not, its uncontrolled airspace, so you can legally fly when the helicopter is not. PS The sign is on the gate near the road, no trespassing was committed, but nice try to make me seem like the bad guy !!

I was disappointed because I was expecting a fully furnished house. Instead there were lines in the floor depicting where the furniture would have stood but other than that a lot of photos and various artifacts. The story behind the homestead was very interesting though.
