Mount Stromlo Observatory
Great views all around. Can still see the fire damage to observatory buildings from the fires a few years ago. Good cafe and delicious food. Fresh air top of the mountain and a good drive. We do the Mt Stromlo Observatory and Tidbinbilla Space Tracking station in one day, and also squeeze in the kangaroo park.

More to see up here than you would think. Plan to spend a little more time than you were going too.The views are fantastic as well. You can get some fantastic shots if you have even a semi decent camera.I am going to make a point of coming here at night next time...with said semi decent camera in tow. I don't think it'll disappoint.

Why this is still listed as a tourist attraction is beyond me. Nothing to see! Everything is closed and looks like it has been that way for a very long time.

Really interesting place with beautiful views in every direction. Only downside was the lack of facilities due to still being closed due to Covid. Enjoyed our visit with the kangaroos lounging around the car parking area.

Mount Stromlo Observatory
This was a fascinating place to explore, with both new observatories and older buildings around the site, all within walking distance from each other. Tours are available on certain days but not necessarily needed. At the top there's a breathtaking views, a few biking tracks too and lots of kangaroos in the area.

Whilst most of the telescopes have been put out of commission since the 2003 firestorm, it is still an interesting place to visit. The cafe was still under renovation when I visited, and directors house was closed but seeing the remains of the bushfire tragedy is still exciting. It also has breathtaking views from up there.

Even though the visitors centre is still shut, it was fun to walk around the grounds and check out the old telescopes.

The views are spectacular, and the history is fascinating. Brr, it gets cold up there!The smell of those eucalyptus trees is magnificent.

Really sad to see just some of the devastation resulting from the fires. Glad it has been left as a reminder. Hope that alternative arrangements have been made for Australian astronomers.
