Epping Shotokan Karate

The calibre of the instructors and students at Epping are a testament to the fact that this Karate club is still operating in its 20th year. The club offers instruction in traditional karate and provides enough encouragement for anyone wanting to pursue the sport side of it, with evidence of quite a few karateka representing the dojo, state and country in various competitions.Training is hard, but fun and most importantly inclusive. I’ve been part of this dojo since 2003. I and my two sons have started here as white belts and gone onto black belts. In time we have each won national level titles. The consistency and calibre of teachers and students makes this a welcoming , yet demanding dojo.

I have a been student at this dojo for years so I'm probably a little biased. Unlike some other nuevo karate schools, this is part of the international association of Shotokan Karate who's chief instructor (Shihan) resides in japan and is held in high esteem there. To become a black belt takes hard work and discipline as well as grading by international panel of judges not just paying the fee. The dojo instructors (who have full time day jobs so do it for the passion and true spirit of teaching) make sure that it is a safe learning environment for development of character and confidence in young members whilst the senior class has enough biffo to give the occasional bruises make it fun.
