Went In on a Sunday evening, not too busy which was great as was catching up with mum and wanted a place to catchup over dinner.The service was great! Friendly staff, great food. We got the tikka chicken and onion bhaji for entrees, and curries for mains.Great quality food aswell. I've been to Indian places where the curry was thin and watery, this was not that experience. The curries were thick and rich in flavour.I would recommend for anyone who wants an intimate dinner experience with yummy food.

Fantastic restaurant. So far I have only sampled their take-away, but the food is heavenly. the service is always friendly and professional and they are punctual and efficient. Colonial British Indian is now my current favourite restaurant. They are very reasonably priced and I have never had a dish served here that wasnt delicious. Highly recommended.

Visiting from Melbourne. Decided to visit this restaurant looking at the reviews, regretted it while in the middle of the dinner.Food is very average, does not live up the names of the dishes. We ordered vegetable platter, Panner tikka masala, Dal makhani, peas pulao, masala garlic naans, rotis ( photos attached)The Vegetable platter has one each of samosa, aloo ticky, onion bhaji, panner. The dish does not qualify to be called as a platter.The Panner tikka masala tasted like tomato puree with undercooked giner and garlic paste and the panner peices were not tikka in a clay oven as mentioned in the menuThe dal makhani lacked cream, salt in it and taste.The peas pulao was just boiled rice and peas, no ghee, no salt.. raised it with the staff and they were kind enough to return it.Disappointed and left with half full stomach to visit different restaurant.

I did not have a good experience with the Colonial British Indian Cuisine Darlinghurst, specifically the man/manager in charge of answering the phones.I ordered off UberEats at approximately 8pm and received a notification that my order had arrived. I went outside to check and found that this was not the case. I attempted to contact the uber driver to no avail and proceeded to contact the restaurant directly. This is where the problem started.After contacting the restaurant, the man who picked up confirmed my order and told me it was still at the restaurant. I asked him if there were any plans for it to be delivered or if there was a driver on the way, he said he was not sure. I asked him what the plan was then, if my food was just going to be left there. He had no regard for my order, just kept repeating himself saying it is still here". I decided to give them half an hour to try and sort the situation out. I called back in half an hour and asked about the updates

New amazing location of the colonial restaurant in darlinghurst - now on Stanley street ! Amazing quality food and fantastic service . Doesn’t have that oily greasy feeling after eating a generic Indian meal. Authentic spices and tastes great with beautiful presentation

A great Indian restaurant close to the centre of Sydney. Enjoyed my chicken Vindaloo, mixed pickle, rice and raita, and the mango lassis were probably the best I’ve ever had. Even if the food was bad I’d probably come back just for the lassi.Only negative was that I found my curry quite salty. But overall, will definitely return here and try the goat curry.

Excellent atmosphere for dinner with friends or as a couple, quiet enough to have conversation but busy and active restaurant on a fun street. A very good choice esp on Friday, after the work week. Staff very pleasant and attentive. The food was very good. Everyone around us seemed to be having a great time.

Food and service was good but menu prices are not updated. We ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala (displayed as $23,90 on several menus) that was $2,10 more on the bill. Similar for steamed rice and naan bread (about $ 1 price difference each). Adds up quickly. They would at least have to make you aware that the prices haven't been updated! Besides that, the Chicken Tikka Masala was done mild even though we decided for medium.
