I have been a student of this club for 18 months now. Starting a martial art for the first time in my 40's - Aikido has been the perfect way to help me gain fitness, flexibility and learn a lot about how to move and interact with other humans. The core philosophy of Aikido resonates well with me - as someone in the health care industry where our ethos is fundamentally 'do no harm', Aikido serves to teach management of conflict with no brutality or gross physical damage to your opponent.Unlike other schools of Aikido, Takemusu trains with strong resistance - lending a more 'real world' application to this beautiful flowing martial art. This dojo also retains traditional weapon training of Ken and Jo. Whilst having little application to real world settings, the use of these weapons holds key lessons for movement of the hand to hand (tai jutsu) elements. If you are thinking about trying a martial art but don't want all the meathead kicking and punching you find in many other forms, come on down to Colonel Light Gardens, or one of the many other Dojo's ATAC has throughout Adelaide and join in the fun.

Great club. Good people. The passion for the art here is apparent from the moment you enter the dojo. Everybody is happy to help and make anyone feel welcomed. It's refreshing to find a Martial Arts Club that belongs to the students. I highly recommend joining!
