The Vanilla Slice Cafe Sorrento
Stopped in for a spot of morning tea with the family on a weekday. Enjoyed the whole outdoor area to ourselves with some vanilla slices and cupcakes. Cupcakes were a bit rich for the kids but they ate most of it. The vanilla slice filling was perfect, however the flake pastry was smothered in so much icing it was off putting. Massive portions but also a bit pricey compared to other bakeries we have visited. Definitely worth dropping in to decide for yourself if this place makes the best vanilla slice in Sorrento.

The Vanilla Slice Cafe Sorrento
At $10 per slice, the Vanilla Slice is indeed very tasty, but also quite large for one person. This is definitely for 2 people. The cafe is busy, and although is well known for its vanilla slice, also serves many other items. Would recommend to try the vanilla slice. Service was friendly throughout the experience!

Certainly a busy place, with variety of food and cakes. We went here specifically for their famous vanilla slice. But maybe it was the hype, but whilst I find the vanilla slice certainly nice, and not as sweet as other places (in a positive way), I’m not sure why it’s so special. Maybe it’s just me. But what I found was that their chocolate croissant cake was very nice, very chocolatey, and that warm gooey chocolate was just heavenly. Didn’t try their drinks or food so can’t comment on those.

In-Depth Review:Start of Service 5/5*Greeted almost immediately with genuine smiles from all the staff. Very good service, how it should be! Not sure what the negative reviews are on about.Food 5/5*Only tried the Vanilla Slice as my mom had been raving about them for so long. I'm not even a sweet craver, but this was soooo good I could not stop eating after my 1st bite! 5/5 for the Vanilla Slice! Really wanted to try the sausage roll, it looks so unique.. Next time!***Value 5/5*$9 for decent sized vanilla slice, the quality is what you pay for and even then, you get a decent size to share! This shopping strip in Sorrento is very boutique and Vanilla Slice Cafe fits right in. We found the slices filling to be one of the best we have tasted in our trip around OZ, however the pastry was too hard and dry for our tastes. The coffee was not to our taste but the service was prompt and friendly.

The Vanilla Slice Cafe Sorrento
Gosh the vanilla slice does NOT disappoint. Got a vanilla milkshake while there too and it was decent, but the slice lives up to its name for sure. They do have deals and certain rules in the cafe, but the service is quite good, and there are both outdoor and indoor tables. Cash can be used as a side note. Has many other desserts there too, like tarts, cakes, pies, etc. Coffee, hot chocolate both available as well.

I can understand why other people feel over priced and gave poor score. The slice is too big for one person.I wouldn't ordered it if I wasn't here with my friend and have one piece to share.The taste actually very good. Rich cream texture but light in fat. Not over sweet but just the nature Vanilla flavour.My recommendation to the business is to cut the size and the price in half so people can at lease willing to taste the first bite and fall in live with it.It would be also nice if you can bundle the slice with a coffee for $9.6(4.8 + 4.95 separatly)

We stopped into the Vanilla Slice Cafe by pure chance as I like Vanilla Slice. Ordered 1 Vanilla Slice with a small coffee and it came to like $15 or something ludicrous. Turns out a regular slice of Vanilla Slice from this cafe is $10. When hand-made vanilla slice from other local bakeries are (in my opinion) just as nice and 40% cheaper, I would recommend going elsewhere for your vanilla slice. We also were charged an extra $1 to dine in, which I've never experienced (yet I'm told is a regular occurrence in Europe based on how busy the cafe is; this cafe was not busy). There was also a snarky sign telling customers not to bother complaining about their prices and to bring it up with the RBA which is not a very professional or friendly way to approach price increases. The server was also rude/blunt in telling us about their food policy regarding the fish & chips place next door. Overall it wasn't a nice experience to be served there, the price of a vanilla slice is RIDICULOUS and the way the information is given to you about it all is given across very snarkily.
