The volcanic region is the largest volcanic province on the planet. If you are interested in how the volcanoes of Western Victoria make up the landscape this museum is worth a visit

My mum recommended I visit here on my way back from Hamilton. I had some time to fill in so I agreed (and it was next to the public toilets). I loved it! The volunteer was so helpful and I found the information, displays and interaction fabulous. I've recommended it to many people since. Well done :)

Penshurst Volcanoes Discovery Centre
Small but educational museum. They were kind enough to admit our extended family of 7 at the standard family rate of $15, so we made a donation to offset it. Worth a stop if you’re passing by and especially if you’ve got kids. Although there’s not much to engage the adults, this was the highlight of the trip, for our kids!

Penshurst Volcanoes Discovery Centre
Really interesting! Though small, the exhibit is laid out well and clearly guides you through the information about volcanoes, with things to read for both adults and children (at appropriate eye level!). I was impressed at the use of technology, especially the interactive volcano map. The video showing the damage the lava flows in Hawaii did was amazing too - it's one thing to read about it, but seeing it really drives home the message.Great place, would highly recommend visiting.

Penshurst Volcanoes Discovery Centre
Lots of videos to watch and rocks to view. Having a couple of microscopes really improved examination of smaller specimens. Not huge, but well done and heaps of good info.The gift shop, while small, had a good assortment of related gifts. Well worth s stop and the 7$AUD entry fee.
