I regularly play badminton at the Arena and the premises are really good for playing badminton with high ceilings and small windows being placed high enough for players not to get the sun into their eyes. You need to take up membership ($65 for 12 months) to get access to the multi purpose hall but the hourly rate for the courts ($30 per hour at peak time) is quite alright. No problem to have a quick shower there after your workout or badminton matches. Staff is generelly friendly but has managed to double book our court a couple of times already. I wasn't too happy to show up and - realising that the court has already been taken - being forced to leave again. There was no compensation offered for the mistake.

Functional rather than fancy, this is a bare bones but large gym with a decent range of cardio and weights' machines, and a decent amount of free weights too. No classes held here - they are all over in the sister SUSF centre on Darlington Rd & Codrington Street. There's plenty of space and you'll usually be able to get hold of the equipment you want but the changing rooms are shabby and have no fans/air-con so a shower after a workout isn't a particularly pleasant or cool experience. If you like your fitness fad-free and self-directed, this would probably be for you.

Great facilities, reasonable pricing and friendly staff. I go to play badminton with friends. The only problem is the badminton court is also used for volleyball and basketball. So it has the court boundaries of everything overlapped in different colours, so it is a bit confusing.

Quite unfriendly staff member looking after badminton court booking. Good court and location, but can be expensive at night, and surface is very slippery.

Squash is really fun but there is little ventilation which makes it quite hot. You need a lot of breaks

Functional gym with friendly staff and decent membership price. The place is not very big and not bright enough, but all the equipments work and the members are polite and respectful. It's not a high-end place, and not very aesthetically pleasing, but works fine for USYD students and staff.
